Liam McElhinney Shortlisted for Winemaker of the Year in the Halliday Wine Companion 2025
Today, the shortlist for the Halliday Wine Companion 2025 awards was released.
We are thrilled to announce that our Chief Winemaker Liam McElhinney has been shortlisted for Winemaker of the Year 2025.
Liam secured the country's most prestigious trophy last year - the Lowestoft 2022 La Maison Pinot Noir was awarded the Jimmy Watson Trophy at the Melbourne Royal Wine Awards - and this shortlist is testament to his incredible skill, passion and knowledge as one of Australia's best winemakers.
The Halliday team said:
"The Shortlist acknowledges the very best wineries, winemakers, and viticulturists from around the country, as nominated by the Tasting Team. Our Winemaker of the Year award is a celebration of the people who do their darndest to put stunning wines on our tables, and into our lives. We present the 2025 Winemaker of the Year Shortlist – meet our finalists below...
"One thing that’s obvious is that Liam McElhinney is on a roll... In short, he’s a force for good; he’s making both Tasmanian wine and Australian wine more broadly a better place."
A huge congratulations to Liam on this nomination.
The winner will be crowned at the Halliday awards presentation on Wednesday 7 August, and we wish all the best to all those who are shortlisted.
